FKS utilizes over 130 years of knowledge and experience from the flavor industry.

Richard Heinze, the President of Flavor Knowledge Systems, Inc. has spent over 30 years in the flavor industry with experience in flavor creation, applications, manufacturing, R&D, quality control, technical management and business development. He was the Vice President of Flavor R & D at Food Materials Corporation, and held similar positions at other major flavor companies.

He holds a number of patents, published papers and presentations regarding flavor technology.

Mr. Heinze recently has held the position of President of the Society of Flavor Chemists (1996), and the President of the Chemical Sources Association (1992). He was also active in various committees of the Flavor Extract Manufactures Association (FEMA) over a period of 21 years. He initiated and developed the Education Committee for the Society of Flavor Chemists in 1987, and served as chairman until 1995.

Mr. Heinze holds a degree in Organic Chemistry, with additional course work in flavor technology, research and management. 

Richard Heinze operates a flavor laboratory at the University of Missouri (UMSL)
in St. Louis. Capabilities include flavor creation, instrumentation and analytical support, and chemistry resources. Two flavor training courses a year are held at the University, a Flavor Compounding course and a (Meat) Flavor Reaction Course.
